Okay, here's some things I've noticed about guns in TV and movies.
If you've ever fired a firearm without ear protection the first thing you notice if your hearing is decent at all is, "Guns are loud!" Hence, if some guys are in a closed room having a big bore gun battle, and then stop shooting. Well, it's not likely they can hear each other when they speak across the room. They especially can't hear each other if one of them is speaking in a tough guy like gravely whisper. It'd be more like, "Hey, dude! can you speak up? My ears are ringin' like crazy over here!"
Next, when a gun is fired, and especially in a prolonged battle, the barrel gets hot, very hot. Okay, so the shooter has just been firing his weapon (gun, okay?) and the first thing they do is stuff the gun in their pants. Are you seeing where I'm going here, "Yee-ouch!" Singed butt crack anyone?
Oh, and that great big pistol our intrepid actor just shoved in his pants, scorching his neither parts, weighs upwards of a couple pounds. In my opinion our guy better have a pretty good belt to hold that handgun in his pants while he's out running around. Or, he may just find it falling into his trousers, by his knees making retrieval awkward to say the least, or he may find his gun gone missing, dropped in his hard pursuit. Dang it! I hate when that happens!
And, why are bad guys such horrible shots? We've all seen multiple evil actors shoot and shoot in the general direction of the our hero. At most, said hero my get a cool looking flesh wound on a cheek. I mean come on! Let's do the math, ten bad guys + seven bullets each = SEVENTY BULLETS, all for one cool looking flesh wound? Right... If I ever become an evil mastermind, I'm investing in some target practice for my henchmen.
So, what are your least favorite movie faux pas? Anything spring out to you? It doesn't have to be about guns. A bad gun battle on TV just happened to be involved when I came up with the idea for this article. So, maybe your pet peeve is about say, kissing or something. What get's you going that the suspension of believe just can't hide?
